The shag rugs have been a part of our culture since the 1960s. They are mainly known for the kind of texture and comfort it has. People prefer having shag rugs in about every corner of their homes.

One such client visited us at The House of Rugs for some design help. They wished to have the newer versions of shag rugs in their newly built home. The challenge was to match the interior themes of the house. Our experts guided the entire design and rug installation process. Here’s how it went.

Laying Shag Rugs in a Modern Home

Our experts came up with several options of rugs with patterns and colors that would go with the interior and furniture. The three rugs that were finalized for different areas of the house were Pepper, Joram, and Terrah.

Pepper

The rug was used in the guest room which followed the theme of mid-century minimalism. The rug we used had a repeating geometric design with a subtle shade of blue-grey on the borders. The rug perfectly matched with floors and the design of the room. It also allowed the furniture and other decor pieces to stand out while also gaining some attention onto itself.

Terrah

Terrah is a rug inspired by the traditional Turkish Tulu. It has a subtle design with similar hues and geometric motifs. The rug has been lightly shaved to allow the precision and hand-knotted pile to shine out. This rug perfectly complements the design and aesthetics of the kitchen. It brings in an earthy feel, like other furniture and materials placed in that space.

Joram

This is a rug again inspired by the traditional Turkish Tulu with subtle designs, hues, and geometric patterns. The pattern on the rug and its beautiful creamy brown and blue shades are what made it stand out in the master bedroom. Also, its iconic texture of a shag rug made it a perfect fit for a bedroom where relaxation and comfort are primary needs.
